“There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all” – Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
Reading is an activity that we at I Can Read believe is important for any person, regardless of their age. It is something that can turn grown adults into children, little girls into princesses, little boys into pirates and is one of the few ways that we all can enter new worlds.
As a parent, it can be difficult to find a book that is engaging as well as educational for your child, especially when it isn’t in their native language. One author that I have come to love as an English teacher is Eric Carle.
His books are visually beautiful, use simple language and most come with fun audio books. There are also hundreds of free online resources and worksheets related to his books that can make reading even more educational.
One of his most popular books is “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. This book is all about the yummy things that a caterpillar ate before becoming a butterfly and it also includes some basic counting.
My personal favourite is his book “From Head To Toe”. This is a fun book that teaches children basic actions using animals. It also pushes the children to try the actions themselves.
Do you have a favourite children’s book? We’d love to hear about it.
